Zanzibar

Pristine beaches, clear ocean waters, and historical destinations are the main highlights in Zanzibar. January is the best time to hit this part of Africa to make the most of that summer heat. Take a dip in Zanzibar’s sparkling tides, and witness the precious marine life under its salty seas. Safari Blue is the best pick if you want to experience a stunning African beach. You may also want to visit the Jozani Forest, where the famous red colobus monkey dwells. The region homes this rare primate, where you can also witness various birdlife. Visiting this destination wouldn’t be complete without learning its roots and history. Zanzibar is where Spice Island is located, which bears significant stories of the past. Wander the Stone Town, Tanzania where you can find the House of Wonders, National Museum of Zanzibar, and the Old Fort.

Cape Town, South Africa

Awarded as 2017’s Best City in the world by Telegraph, Cape Town is the paradise you must witness in January. Thousands of tourists fly to this part of the world and head to adventures. The city offers lots of great family holiday destinations in South Africa. It homes long lines of restaurants, hotels, and businesses that offer various activities. Witness two oceans meet in the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, which bears stunning beauty all-year-round. Hiking the Table Mountain, one of New Seven Wonders of Nature, is a chance you shouldn’t miss when you get to Cape Town. Let the beguiling beaches leave you mesmerized, as well the famous parks such as West Coast National Park, and Tankwa Karoo National Park, which are all filled with plants and flowers. Wander these places, and you’ll carry with you a dreamy experience as you witness the beauty of South Africa.

Hot Air Balloon Ride (approx. US$599/person)

Location:

Serengeti National Park, Tarangire National Park, Ruaha National Park

Overview:

This is the most popular add-on to our safari itineraries, and for good reason! It offers a unique and breathtaking perspective of Tanzania’s stunning landscapes and wildlife from above, particularly over the Serengeti National Park, as you peacefully float along. You can witness a bird’s-eye view of the Great Migration and have the opportunity to see animals in their natural habitat at sunrise. Most operators end the tour with a champagne toast and full bush breakfast. We prefer to pre-book your hot air balloon ride so you are not disappointed by unavailability.

Night Game Drive (approx. US$70/person + park fee US$55)

Location:

Lake Manyara National Park

Overview:

This experience allows you to explore a different facet of the park, enhancing your safari adventure with rare and captivating sightings. Night-time game drives provide an exciting opportunity to witness nocturnal wildlife, such as elusive leopards, genets, and bush babies. This excursion offers a unique perspective on the park’s ecosystem, revealing the behaviors and interactions of creatures that thrive in the darkness.

Walking Safari (approx. US$ 40/person)

Location:

This excursion can usually be done anywhere, but we recommend experiencing this at the Ngorongoro Crater Rim accompanied by an armed ranger or in Tarangire National Park with an armed ranger.

Overview:

This excursion allows for unique sightings of smaller creatures, such as dung beetles, reptiles, and a variety of bird species, that are often overlooked while in a safari vehicle. Additionally, the guided walk provides an opportunity to learn about the flora and fauna up close, enriching the overall safari experience with a deeper connection to nature.

Boating Safari (approx. US$100/boat)

Location:

Lake Victoria or Lake Momella in Arusha National Park

Overview:

Here, you can enjoy fishing for various species, exploring bustling local fish markets, and visiting a traditional village where you can even meet a local witch doctor. This excursion is worth the additional effort for its blend of serene lake views, cultural experiences, and the chance to engage in authentic Tanzanian traditions.

Hunting with Bushmen (approx. US$75/person)

Location:

Northwest of Karatu, close to Lake Eyasi, and with the Datoga Tribe

Overview:

This excursion provides an opportunity to learn about the ancestral skills, tracking techniques, and deep connection with the land from one of Tanzania’s oldest indigenous people. Engaging in this activity can enrich your safari adventure and offer a powerful understanding of the tribe’s way of life and survival. On the excursion, you can visit the metalsmith to see where the weapons are made and also visit a group of local women in their housing.
